In June 2016, the Mao Yisheng Science and Technology Award Presentation Conference was held in Beijing Jiaotong University. Prof. Liao Hua, who is the vice president of the CSEEM, won the 18th Mao Yisheng Beijing Youth Science and Technology Award.

Mao Yisheng Beijing Youth Science and Technology Award is jointly established by the Beijing Municipal Science and Technology Association and Beijing Mao Yisheng Science and Technology Education Foundation. The award is approved by the National Science and Technology Awards Office of Science and Technology Award project; every year, 15 outstanding young scientists and technicians will be selected in Beijing.

The Mao Yisheng Science and Technology Education Foundation created the award in 1991 as a memorial to Mao and his great contribution to bridge engineering. It has recognized 3,000 distinguished science and technology personnel in its 25 years.
